About PRIDE

Since 2012, we have been a central part of the Lubbock LGBTQ+ community.

LubbockPRIDE is an organization that hosts the annual LGBTQ+ pride festival in Lubbock, Texas. The festival brings together Lubbock and the surrounding communities for a day of fun, food, and fabulous entertainment! This event is family friendly and we welcome people of all ages.

Our goal is to promote equality and increase awareness around issues affecting the Lubbock LGBTQ+ community. We celebrate the strides our community has taken for acceptance from society, our friends, and family.

Our Focus

  • Create a welcoming and accepting organization by being positive role models for members of the LGBTQ+ community and our allies.

  • Foster communication, tolerance, and mutual support among LGBTQ+ persons.

  • Oppose prejudice in society at large and within the LGBTQ+ community on the basis of sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression.

  • Encourage fellowship and support among participating businesses, professionals, individuals, and charitable organizations with the LGBTQ+ community and our allies.

  • Produce the annual pride festival that fosters a sense of community and encourages LGBTQ+ persons to live openly and with pride.

The mission of LubbockPRIDE is to celebrate, support, and empower the LGBTQ+ community in Lubbock and surrounding areas through advocacy, education, and community building, ensuring a positive and dignified representation for all.

Open Board Positions

We are an all-volunteer non-profit organization. We do not take salaries nor wages from the Organization.

In addition to the basic responsibilities of each position, attendance at monthly meetings and at least one event is also asked of each Board Member.

FUNDRAISER COORDINATOR

The Fundraising Coordinator develops and coordinates fundraising initiatives that support the Organization's mission and community events. This role cultivates and maintains relationships with businesses, sponsors, and community organizations, serves as the Organization's representative to these partners, and manages records of sponsorship opportunities, communications, and fundraising efforts. The Fundraising Coordinator collaborates with the Finance Director to oversee the financial aspects of fundraising activities and maintains professional, positive relationships that encourage ongoing community partnerships. The Fundraising Coordinator also performs all duties incident to the office, as well as any responsibilities assigned by the President, the Board, applicable law, or these Bylaws.

SECRETARY

The Secretary maintains the official records of the Organization, including the current Bylaws, Board and committee meeting minutes, and all required notices in accordance with these Bylaws. The Secretary ensures organizational records are accurate, accessible to the Board as appropriate, and properly maintained. The Secretary also performs all duties incident to the office, as well as any responsibilities assigned by the President, the Board, applicable law, or these Bylaws.

VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR
The Volunteer Coordinator assesses volunteer needs for organizational events and oversees volunteer recruitment, communication, scheduling, and assignment of duties. This role facilitates volunteer orientation and training, collaborates with the Board to complete background checks, and coordinates required parental or guardian permission for volunteers under the age of 18. The Volunteer Coordinator also performs all duties incident to the office, as well as any responsibilities assigned by the President, the Board, applicable law, or these Bylaws.

PUBLIC RELATIONS

This position engages with local communities and surrounding areas to identify LGBTQIA+ issues requiring advocacy or public action. This role collaborates with community partners, advocacy organizations, and local activists to coordinate appropriate responses to policy, legal, or community concerns. Responsibilities include organizing rallies, issuing public statements, distributing educational resources, raising community awareness, and serving as a liaison between outside agencies and reporting parties. The position also performs all duties incident to the office, as well as any responsibilities assigned by the President, the Board, applicable law, or these Bylaws.

YOUTH ENGAGEMENT COORDINATOR

This position develops, organizes, and oversees programs and events that support LGBTQ+ youth and families. This role collaborates with community organizations serving LGBTQ+ youth, represents the Organization in those partnerships, and coordinates youth-focused events, including Drag Story Time and other family-friendly programming. The Youth Engagement Coordinator ensures all activities prioritize the privacy, safety, and well-being of LGBTQ+ youth, their families, and allies. The Youth Engagement Coordinator also performs all duties incident to the office, as well as any responsibilities assigned by the President, the Board, applicable law, or these Bylaws.

GRAPHIC DESIGNER

The Graphic Design Coordinator develops promotional materials and oversees the consistent use of the Organization's brand identity and Brand Style Guide. This role coordinates with the Board, sponsors, businesses, and community partners to support marketing and promotional initiatives, manages branding assets, and ensures quality control for organizational merchandise and promotional materials. The Graphic Design Coordinator also collaborates with the Finance Director and Fundraising Coordinator on merchandise production and acquisition and performs all duties incident to the office, as well as any responsibilities assigned by the President, the Board, applicable law, or these Bylaws.
